Non-destructive testing shall be applied if it is stipulated in the investigation and order. Under this heading, the tests are grouped which aim to highlight the defects which cannot be detected by a Visual cxmnination simple, as penetrating, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, radiography X or gamma-radiographic inspection; also included under this heading are tests on the State of surface by Visual or Visual-tactile examination. The purchaser must specify the following in the investigation and order: a) the type of non-destructive testing which it intends to carry out or have carried OUC b) the areas of casting to which these tests are applicable, and types of discontinuity, where appropriate; (c) that all, or what proportion are to be tested; castings.

Care must be taken that the heat is applied to at least the base during welding metal. To this effect, a short length of arc, the lowest possible current, the weld in the smallest parts diameter electrodes under article soldering and, if possible, immersion in water of the part of the casting being welded up to just below the level of the weld and other methods of rapid cooling of the welding area must be applied. 16.1 except specitled otherwise by the buyer during the investigation and order, castings can be rectified by welding. All repairs by welding must be performed in accordance with Witt – the procedure in the 5530 IS. Castings were subjected to non-destructive testing by agreement between the purchaser and Builder, castings, should be reviewed in the region of repair following a correction made on castings.

Form the basis of an agreement between the buyer and the supplier in this regard, where appropriate, the following classification shall apply for – the extent of repair: a) repair Weld involving a depth not exceeding 20 per cent of the wall thickness or 25 mm, if it is less, must be qualified as a minor repair. (b) any repair soldering exceeding the above must be qualified as a major repair. In addition any single remedy, the area of more than 250 mm square for each millimetre of thickness of the wall must also be regarded as a major repair, regardless of the considerations mentioned in (a) above. 16.3 in view of the practical difficulties involved in obtaining weld without cracks to weld the metal of the same range of composition that the original material is used, the following releaxed conditions for minor welding are applicable, without formal qualification of the performance of the procedure and welder: a) the defects must be welded using a procedure and welders capable of producing healthy welds. The weld deposit must be in austenitic steel, in general, but the welds on the port of w-faces are made of manganese steel. (b) welding repairs shall be inspected at the same quality standards as those used in the inspection of the castings. c) to judge the quality of the weld, the attention invited to note No. 1 given under 10.3. Figure 4 is d) severity level defining the acceptability or non-acceptability of defects which may be disclosed; and (c) if the manufacturer is or contractually responsible for the execution of the tests.
